Step 1: Get the Flights Right
Palm Springs International (PSP) is the obvious choice — twenty minutes from most La Quinta properties, compact, and remarkably stress-free for a California airport. For larger groups or private arrivals, Bermuda Dunes Airport and Thermal Airport are both options. Send us your flight number and arrival time when you book and we’ll have a car waiting.
Step 2: Pick Your Dates Deliberately
October through April is peak golf season and the best window for comfortable outdoor living. If you’re targeting a specific event — Coachella, Stagecoach, Modernism Week, the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells — book as early as possible. The best properties in La Quinta go first and they go early.
Step 3: Send Us Your Pre-Arrival Requests
This is the step most guests underuse. We can arrange grocery pre-stock, pool pre-heating, airport transfers, welcome gifts, tee times, restaurant reservations, and private chef bookings — all before you land. One message, sent early, makes the difference between a good arrival and a brilliant one. Get in touch as soon as you’ve confirmed your dates.
Step 4: Lock In Tee Times Early
PGA West tee times fill up in peak season, particularly on weekends. If golf is on the itinerary, confirm your preferred tee times as soon as your travel dates are set. Same applies to private chefs and festival logistics — early always wins in the valley.
Step 5: Pack for the Desert
Lightweight layers for the evenings (it cools down significantly in winter, more than most visitors expect). High-SPF sunscreen — the desert sun is not a rumour. A decent wide-brim hat. Comfortable walking shoes for Old Town La Quinta and any Joshua Tree excursions. Golf shoes if needed — PGA West operates a resort dress code.
Step 6: The Day One Ritual
Land. Get picked up at the arrivals hall. Drive to the house. Walk into a pre-heated pool and a stocked fridge. That is the intended sequence and it runs exactly that way when you plan ahead.
